چکیده
A 16 year old girl with rheumatoid arthritis who had not received gold or penicillamine developed a nephrotic syndrome. Her renal biopsy specimen showed membranous glomerulonephritis by light, electron, and immunofluorescence microscopy.

Bucillamine-Induced Membranous Nephropathy with Crescent Formation in a Patient with Rheumatoid Arthritis: Case Report and Literature Review
Bucillamine is a disease-modifying antirheumatic drug that is structurally similar to D-penicillamine. The major renal side effect of bucillamine and D-penicillamine is proteinuria caused by membranous nephropathy (MN). In addition to MN, combined crescent formation has been occasionally reported in D-penicillamine-induced MN, while crescent formation has been rarely reported in bucillamine-tre...
متن کاملCoexistent membranous nephropathy and ANCA-positive crescentic glomerulonephritis in association with penicillamine.
D-penicillamine is an effective disease-modifying drug in rheumatoid arthritis, but adverse effects are common and often lead to the cessation of treatment with this agent [1]. A variety of autoimmune disorders may be induced by the drug, either associated with organspecific autoantibodies (e.g. myasthenia gravis or pemphigus vulgaris) or with non-organ-specific autoantibodies (e.g. systemic lu...
متن کاملAntiglomerular basement membrane glomerulonephritis following D-penicillamine-associated nephrotic syndrome.
Antiglomerular basement membrane (anti-GBM) glomerulonephritis (GN) is rare and is characterized by rapidly progressive GN with IgG linear deposits along the GBM in immunofluorescence study and circulating anti-GBM antibodies. This form of GN usually occurs without previous renal disease, but some cases of membranous GN have been reported with secondary development of antiGBM disease [1,2]. Adm...
متن کاملProgressive proliferative glomerulonephritis in a patient with rheumatoid arthritis treated with D-penicillamine.
A 49 year old man with rheumatoid arthritis developed a proliferative glomerulonephritis with progressive renal impairment during treatment with D-penicillamine. His renal function continued to deteriorate after the drug was stopped but improved after treatment with corticosteroids and azathioprine.
متن کاملHaematuria in rheumatoid arthritis: an association with mesangial glomerulonephritis.
Twenty-four patients with rheumatoid arthritis and isolated haematuria were investigated for the cause of their haematuria. In 3 patients local urological disorders were identified, including a pelvicaliceal carcinoma. Renal biopsies were performed on the remaining 21 patients, and the most common abnormality found was a mild mesangial glomerulonephritis (71%). Immunofluorescence and electron m...
